Amazon’s The Power Recasts Leslie Mann And Tim Robbins Roles

Amazon now has to recast Leslie Mann and Tim Robbins in their supposed roles for the drama series The Power.

Deadline reports that actors Leslie Mann and Tim Robbins have left the production of the Amazon drama series The Power.

Production of The Power for Amazon started before the pandemic. It’s one of the many projects that were affected by strict protocols and rescheduling throughout the height of CoVid-19.

The Power is based on Naomi Alderman’s 2016 novel of the same name. In turn, the drama series started its development back in February 2019. Thus, Alderman created the drama series that Jane Featherston, Sister and Reed Morano would adapt for Amazon Studios. Further, they announced the executive producers to join Alderman, Morano and Featherstone to be Nomi de Pear and Claire WilsonSarah Wheale and Shawn Williamson co-produces episodes with Steve Searle. Tim Bricknell is also producing with David Higginson as the UK Line Producer and Tina Oswald as the South Africa Line Producer.

The novel is transformed into a drama series through Wilson’s writing together with Sarah Quintrell and Stacy Osei-Kuffour as overseen by Alderman. Morano directed the episodes with Shannon Murphy, Neasa Hardiman, Ugla Hauksdottir and Lisa Gunning.

The 10-episode series will generally show a group of young women discovering they have the power to electrocute others to a point that extinguishes life. Eventually, they find out they can tap and ignite this same ability to older women. Thus tipping the dominance of gender to the female side.

Leslie Mann was supposedly one of the main characters of the story. Her role was supposedly the mayor of Seattle Margo Cleary-Lopez. She is portrayed as a loving wife and mother of three. Meanwhile, Tim Robbins was to be Daniel Dandon. Dandon is the self-righteous and self-important Republican governor of Washington state. In the story, he is in constant opposition to the side of Democrat Cleary-Lopez.

Leslie Mann and Tim Robbins have left the production and the studio is now recasting for the roles. However, this will not be the first recasting for Daniel Dandon. Initially, Rainn Wilson was Dandon. But due to pandemic shutdowns of production, restrictions delayed the filming and Wilson reached a conflict in schedule with his other obligations. Robbins got the part which writers re-wrote to become a recurring guest star instead of one of the main leads. Naturally, scenes of the two actors will be reshot for the upcoming drama series.

The main cast includes Auliʻi Cravalho as Jos Cleary-Lopez, John Leguizamo as Rob, Toheeb Jimoh as Tunde, Ria Zmitrowicz as Roxy Monke, Halle Bush as Allie, Nico Hiraga as Ryan, Heather Agyepong as Ndudi, Daniela Vega as Sister Maria, Eddie Marsan as Bernie Monke and others. We will also get to see Rob Delaney as Tom, Alice Eve as Kristen, Edwina Findley as Helen, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as Ricky Monke, Avital Lvova as Liat Monke, Sam Buchanan as Terry Monke, Juliet Cowan as Barbara Monke, Simbi Ajikawo as Adunola and Ana Ularu as Zoia in a recurring role.
