Amazon is interested in making the PlayStation exclusive game series God of War into a TV series for Prime Video.
Netflix has been making a ton of game related series and movies for the past few years now. And lately, it has been doing very well with Konami’s Castlevania and Riot Games’ Arcane: League of Legends. Netflix is not the only one doing this. Paramount Plus gets into the action with Microsoft’s most popular franchise, Halo. NBC’s Peacock went for Twisted Metal.
Amazon Wants A God Of War TV Series

Amazon already has other videogame IPs with plans for series production. This includes Bethesda’s Fallout and BioWare’s Mass Effect. Fallout and Mass Effect seems to be just a part of their plans.
God of War is one of the most popular game franchises in PlayStation history. Created by David Jaffe. Several titles in different platforms including PSP and on mobile phones followed its initial release from 2005 for the PS2. It still has a very strong following today.
Sony will release an upcoming game within the year. The original series of games focus on a character named Kratos. The game heavily uses references on Greek mythology which lasted until 2013.
In 2018, the franchise was rebooted. It continued Kratos’ story, centuries after the events of God of War 3. but shifted the setting to Norse mythology. The upcoming game called God of War: Ragnarok is set to continue Kratos’ personal journey.

A report from Deadline said that Amazon streaming service Prime Video is currently in negotiations to make the PlayStation franchise into a TV series.
The creators of the Expanse, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (both co-wrote Children of Men and Iron Man) and The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will adapt the series. Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Production will be collaborating for all PlayStation related TV shows.
We do wonder what they plan to tell in this God of War series. Will Amazon Prime Video just make an alternate timeline like what Paramount did with Halo? Or will they just retell the story of the original games? Or is it also possible to tell his story in between the events of God of War 3 (2010) and God of War (2018)? What do you think?
