Alaqua Cox drops a clue saying she begins filming for a project that can highly possibly be Hawkeye’s spin-off series Echo.
The Disney Plus series Hawkeye introduced Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez also known as Echo last December 2021. Cox’s character Maya has long hunted Ronin as she believes he was the one who killed her father-figure. Ronin was an alter ego of Clint Barton during the five years after Thanos’ snap. Barton was able to shed truth to Lopez that eventually led her to come after Wilson Fisk in the end of the series.
Screenrant reports production has confirmed to start based on an Instagram post Cox made herself. While the said photo is no longer visible in her @alaquacox instagram account, a screencaptured image is still on various sites.

The new Marvel character Echo was well-received by audiences that the studio confirmed her return with a series of her own. The studio announced production is on schedule to start April 2022 for the series entitled Echo. Thus making the project a spin-off from Hawkeye.
In that recent Instagram post from actress Alaqua Cox, she shared a photo of a note and bouquet of flowers from Devery Jacobs. The note together with the bouquet of flowers say:
Have a great first day of production! Break a leg, wound a knee, and take it all in! Ya’ll are making history. I wish I could be there to kick it off, but I know I’m there in spirit see you soon!

Cox attaches an emoji with a touched expression signifying her gratitude to Jacobs.
With the phrases “break a leg, wound a knee and take it all in”, it can only mean that Cox is about to film Echo. Maya Lopez aka Echo is a character who has physical demands due to combat or action scenes. Alaqua Cox is told to “take it all in” as Echo is her first lead role. In just her second Marvel project, Cox takes the titular role of the series.

With this photo and note, it truly signifies the start of the Disney Plus series Echo. Details as to the show’s premise is still unknown. However, reports have been going around that Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil to appear in multiple episodes. Naturally, Vincent d’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin will also be there. Fisk’s presence in the series will be more prominent as compared to his exposure in Hawkeye. Since the character considers Lopez as his daughter, he will be present in multiple if not all episodes.
Given that the production starts this month, fans speculate the release date for the series is some time 2023.
