Adam Wingard Returns For Godzilla Vs Kong 2 With Dan Stevens

Adam Wingard, director of the first movie, is now back to helm Godzilla vs Kong 2 starring Dan Stevens in Legendary’s Monsterverse.

This development follows the previous announcement that the sequel is well into pre-production. The Monsterverse of Legendary is definitely alive and roaring.

In a report from Deadline, Godzilla vs. Kong Sequel now has Adam Wingard as its director and the movie will star Dan Stevens. The plotline or other details are still in lock and key. However, audiences can expect the giants will come together for another bout.

Other movie projects aside from Godzilla vs Kong which are under Adam Wingard’s belt include Death Note, Blair Witch, Outcast (tv series) and The Guest, to name a few. Dan Steven also starred in several television series in the past years such as Immigrant, Gaslit, Central Park, The Prince, Solos and Cinema Toast.

The upcoming Godzilla vs Kong sequel will not be the first project Adam Wingard and Dan Stevens will work together for. Back in 2014, Wingard directed the movie The Guest that starred Steven. It’s the same movie that garnered several nominations and wins for Steven as Best Actor. Thus, this project is something both director and star has more than welcomed into their project rosters.

With the previous movie’s financial profile where the budget of $155M blasted in $468M in the worldwide box office, hopes are high as these numbers prevailed even during pandemic restrictions. As these restrictions are now easing up, there is the possibility that they could sell more for this project.

We are also standing by for future casting news and updates about a series that may be directly connected to the movies. Punkbeast has previously featured that Kurt Russell may be cast as a character especially written for the Apple TV series. However, there is no official announcement with regard to the connection or to the casting. Even the working title of Monarch is still up for confirmation.

Nevertheless, the Godzilla Monsterverse can depend on a strong fanbase. Maybe the audience just really wants to see these monsters brawl. Maybe it offers the escape viewers look for. Good thing it’s in production already with a slated schedule this summer.

Let them fight!
