20th Century Studios picks up the Predator franchise with a prequel entitled Prey as a Hulu original film. Director Dan Trachtenberg even has his vision set for future developments of the series. Safe to say that the upcoming project is just the beginning.
The film will bring the audience to 1719 in the Comanche Nation. The alien warrior hunter will face Amber Midthunder’s Comanche warrior woman named Naru.

An article from movieweb shares that the director has more up his sleeves. He says:
“There are a lot of exciting ideas for what could be next for the franchise. The things that most excite me are the boldest swings and I think there’s scope to do other things that haven’t been done before.”
The Predator franchise is popular for making the audience feel the danger lurking just around a corner. Much like they feel being the one hunted by the monster. The story has always been about the chase, catching and outsmarting the hunter. With six movies in the franchise the Predator cashed in $741M from a total of $291M budget. The best performing movie was Alien vs Predator back in August 2004 registering $172.5M in the worldwide box office from a $70M budget. It pit two movie monsters against each other. Although, the question as to which one actually outwits and outmuscles the other was and is never answered clearly.

Capturing that suspense and thrill is a challenge and Trachtenberg has taken it on. Prey brings the monster to human civilization but in a different time period. Naru is the warrior who will protect her people against the danger that lurks. Patrick Aison wrote for the movie that also stars Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope and Dane DiLiegro. The latter being the Predator himself.
Despite the movie being under the Disney conglomerate, it retains its R rating due to its “strong bloody violence”. Trachtenberg assures:
The Disney thing did not affect the movie at all in terms of its content.
