Less than a week ago, we reported about J.J. Abrams’ upcoming series about the Hellblazer, John Constantine, for HBO Max. Recent reports signify that the production is eyeing Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù to be the next Hellblazer.
Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù Possibly The Next John Constantine In J.J. Abrams’ HBO Max Series
Constantine is a character belonging to DC’s Justice League Dark Universe. The series itself will focus more on the horror aspects of the comics source rather than its religious facets. J.J. Abrams is developing the series to tackle the supernatural as well as urban horror and action.
UK author Guy Bolton will be writing for the series featuring a girl with her grandfather at the center of the story. Warner Bros. got interested on the developing series as it will have a different take on the delivery from the previous series that starred Matt Ryan.
J.J. Abrams is in a prime position to be behind the DC Universe especially when it comes to Justice League Dark. Constantine is being designed to open the doors for the team. The series is reportedly to be followed by a movie featuring Zantanna and a series focusing on Madame X. Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm will also be with Abrams for an animated Batman series entitled Caped Crusader. Finally, J.J. Abrams will also produce a new Superman movie under his company Bad Robot. The new Superman movie will feature a Black lead.
Possible Constantine actor Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù has has 34 acting credits to his name. The actor has just recently completed filming for Mr. Malcolm’s List as Jeremy Malcolm. Multiple award-giving bodies have nominated the actor for his performance in His House, a thriller horror drama about a refugee couple from South Sudan. In the movie, Dìrísù is Bol Majur.
